Why I started with Arms Wide Adoption Services:
I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue a career path where I can work one-on-one with youth fostering trusting relationships and working with them to build individualized goal plans. Within the next few years, I am planning to pursue an LCSW, and it was important to me before taking this next step to gain some hands-on experience helping youth in a targeted area using trauma-informed practices. Not only did Arms Wide provide the opportunity to gain this important experience, but it was also clear to me early on that I would be working within a supportive and caring environment with individuals who share similar passions to my own.
My favorite part about my job:
I think having close, human connections with other people is a vital and necessary part of life. I am grateful not only for the opportunity to be a resource for the youth on my caseload, but also for the opportunity to help them find their own meaningful connections with others (hopefully in a way that leads to permanency!).
My least favorite part:
It can be difficult seeing how badly some of these youth desire a permanent home, and how discouraged they can feel when a new obstacle appears that makes achieving permanency hard
More about me:
I am originally from Las Vegas and though I’ve been in Houston for four years now, I still have a lot to learn about the city! I am also a proud cat mom to two wonderful kitties (Ginny and Aubrey) and can binge watch Korean dramas in a ridiculously short amount of time. I also enjoy writing poetry in my free time!
Ask me about:
Living in Las Vegas, Korean dramas, Mario Party, and boba!
