WWK Recruiter and Adoption Coordinator
As a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter, Chelsey Castro works directly with kids who are legally free for adoption, building trust-based relationships and searching for each child’s forever family by utilizing child-based recruitment. She received her B.A. in Social Work from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and began at Arms Wide as an intern before finding her career here.
Why I started with Arms Wide Adoption Services:
As an intern at Arms Wide, I had the opportunity to experience different aspects of our organization, including adoption, foster care, and recruitment. When the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids position opened up, I knew that was the perfect job for me and applied for it! I’ve always wanted to work directly with kids, and this job allows me to do that in a meaningful way.
My favorite part about my job:
I love hanging out with the kids, getting to know them and seeing their perspectives. Helping them find forever families is so fulfilling.
My least favorite part:
Paperwork—I’m a much more hands-on kind of person.
More about me:
I’ve always loved adoption, so I’m very passionate about what I do. In my opinion, I have the best job at Arms Wide, because I spend time with our truly wonderful kids. Speaking of kids, I’m incredibly excited about my first baby—she’s due in December 2017! For fun, my husband and I love trying new restaurants. I’m definitely a foodie.
Ask me about:
I like talking with my coworkers about the shows we’re all watching, like The Bachelor.
