It Takes a Village Community Liaison
As the Recruitment and Training Supervisor, Ashley works to engage the community and provide education about the mission of Arms Wide Adoption Services with the hope of developing more foster and adoptive families for children in the system. She is graduate of the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work and has a passion for abused and neglected children.
Why I started with Arms Wide Adoption Services:
I have always had a heart to help abused and neglected children. I started with Arms Wide Adoption Services because of the opportunity to find safe and loving homes for deserving children.
My favorite part about my job:
Meeting new people in the Houston community at outreach events – I’m a huge people person. I have been fortunate to meet some amazing individuals and families around the city and build a network of people with a passion for foster care and adoption.
My least favorite part:
Hearing stories of children being bounced around from foster home to foster home.
More about me:
I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and have lived in Houston since I completed my undergraduate degree at Ohio University. After working with a nonprofit my senior year, I knew I wanted to spend my career working to protect children in need. I have since worked for some amazing organizations in the Houston area including: Casa de Esperanza, The Council on Recovery, The Center for Success and Independence, as well as HISD. Every experience has afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with amazing men and women.
