Arianne Riebel, LMSW, LCPAA
Director of Adoption and Foster Care Services
As Director of Adoption and Foster Care Programs, Arianne oversees our team of adoption and foster care employees. She makes sure each step of the adoption and foster care journey goes smoothly. While earning her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Stephen F. Austin University, Arianne first considered a career in adoption and gained experience working in the field during her college career. A few years after graduation, she completed her Master of Social Work at the University of Houston. Then, Arianne gained a decade of experience in child welfare before becoming a part of the Arms Wide Adoption Services family.
Why I started with Arms Wide Adoption Services:
My path to my career in adoption services is pretty circuitous. I’d always wanted to teach — until my first day in front of a classroom of kids! Thankfully, I experienced working in a classroom not long after beginning college, so I had the chance to change my major. After switching to nursing and then back to education again, I knew I needed to try something different. I flipped through my university’s book of majors and discovered social work. Once I began my classes, I fell in love with the field. I heard about adoption career opportunities from my fellow social work peers. I decided to work in adoption during my second field placement.
When I graduated, I continued to work in adoption services. When the organization I worked for was revamping their programs, I knew I wanted a change. Vikki and Rachelle asked me to think about working for Arms Wide Adoption Services. I was drawn to the position because of the small size of the organization. I wanted to be able to give each child and family one-on-one support and attention. Arms Wide Adoption Services encourages and allows me to do this.
My favorite part about my job:
I love seeing people become parents or add more children to their family. Plus, knowing that kids have found their forever homes.
My least favorite part:
Navigating a mountain of rules and regulations can be exhausting, but I know how important it is that everyone working in adoption and foster care adhere to them to keep kids safe.
More about me:
I have an awesome twin brother, two sweet Maltipoo dogs, 13 fabulous nieces and nephews, and three adorable great nieces and nephews. My favorite days are spent with my family and with my Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sisters from my college days.
