Respite Care

At Arms Wide, our experienced staff recognize that parenting can be demanding. Arms Wide’s respite care is designed to provide Greater Houston and South Texas adoptive and PMC families with relief from the stress of parenting children with special needs. Payment for in-home care or out-of-home care can be reimbursed according to the standards set by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).

Respite care services are provided through:

  • A family member hiring a qualified, non-relative individual who is able to manage the child’s needs, in or out of the home. The family then requests reimbursement for pre-approved respite programs from the Post Adoption or Post Permanency Programs.
  • The parents utilizing a facility such as YMCA, or a licensed child care facility. The family then provides documentation of service and requests reimbursement of the pre-approved service.

Respite care services are offered to all families eligible for permanency support services as funding from DFPS is available. Contact Arms Wide’s Houston or South Texas offices to learn more about how respite care offered through our Post Adoption or Post Permanency Programs can help your family.
