Volunteer

Arms Wide does not have very big volunteer programs in Greater Houston or South Texas, and because we work with children in foster care, the types of in-office volunteer opportunities we can provide are limited. However, we welcome your interest in becoming more involved with our mission and our programs through volunteer work!

Event Volunteers

Arms Wide holds a couple client appreciation events each year where volunteers are needed – our Foster Care Appreciation Dinner in May and our annual Family Holiday Party in December. Our volunteer needs around the Family Holiday Party are especially important as volunteers are needed to sort gifts for children, serve breakfast to families, organize fun activities for the kids to participate in during the party, and manage various activities during the party such as craft projects, face painting and photos with Santa.

Arms Wide also holds various child and family events at third-party locations where volunteers are needed to help supervise children and engage them around fun activities. Many of these volunteer opportunities take place in Fort Bend County, in the Greater Houston area. If you’re interested in helping facilitate some of these events, especially those events in Fort Bend County, please contact Arms Wide’s Houston office for more information about future volunteer opportunities.

Angel Room

In addition, our foster care resource room, the Angel Room, is always in need of certain in-kind donations in order to ensure our foster families have the resources they need when a child or children come into their care. Volunteer efforts to initiate supply drives for the Angel Room have been very successful and ensure Arms Wide’s Angel Room has the supplies necessary to help our foster families. Please visit our Angel Room Amazon Wish List to learn more about the items needed.

Share Your Story and Photos

Arms Wide is also always looking for parents who have adopted through the agency to help with site visits by potential funders, speaking opportunities in addition to sharing their stories for family spotlights on Arms Wide’s website and newsletter. Adult adoptees are also invited to volunteer for this important role in order to help increase awareness about the transformative power of adoption.

If you are interested in helping with any of the above opportunities, please contact Nikolai Robinson at nrobinson@armswide.org or  713-842-7590.
