Sharon D. Carter

Senior Permanency Specialist

As a Senior Permanency Specialist, Sharon Carter finds solutions to any issues that arise after a child has been permanently placed with a family. Her goal is to do everything in her power to make sure the child stays in the family. Sharon earned a B.S. in Psychology from Texas Southern University, and worked in various aspects of social services before joining the Arms Wide family.

Why I started with Arms Wide:

I’ve worked in social services in a lot of different environments, including in clinics and hospitals. I have a background in case management from my time working at CPS, which prepared me well for my position at Arms Wide.

My favorite part about my job:

My favorite part is working with the families. And I like problem solving. When a family describes a situation they’re struggling with, I sort through it piece by piece and create a plan of action to resolve the issue.

My least favorite part:

Filing is . . . tedious. But, in all seriousness, the lack of funding for post adoption and post permanency resources is most frustrating. It makes it harder to find solutions for families in need.

More about me:

I just love helping our families. Knowing I can find solutions to the problems that worry them is so fulfilling.

Ask me about:

Reality TV! Right now, I’m hooked on The Bachelorette, America’s Got Talent and Orange is the New Black. I’m also a movie buff, and love watching movies anytime!
